About Prayer

About Prayer

When faced with certain situations, we sometimes don't know how to pray.

What should we say?

How should we pray?

                                    Does God really hear us?

Will my prayers make any difference?

This website has been created with the purpose of presenting scriptural patterns of prayer.  These outlines are intended to encourage people to use God-given principles in their prayer lives thus answering in some measure the first two questions.

The prayer guidelines given are basic.  They are not meant to be complete guidelines nor is every scripture on a particular subject given.  Wherever we are, as we pray, we will find that the Lord really does hear our prayers and that, yes, every prayer makes a difference.

Each prayer guideline is presented in such a way that there is space for people to add their own thoughts, scriptures, and special matters for prayer in connection with the given topic.

Every country has special needs; every culture has its own expression; every city, town, village or settlement has its own identity; every family, every person has their own particular or special challenge in life.  The aspects of prayer presented here leave room for each person to develop their own prayer lines according to their personal and particular situations.

Jesus praying 1

As we pray according to the scriptures, there will be unity of heart expressed across communities and nations.  We fulfil the Lord’s desire when He said, ‘"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.’  John 17:20 & 21.

This verse crosses centuries, generations and nations and includes you and me personally in this prayer of Jesus’.

Prayer is a lifestyle and it is important for each one of us to spend time alone with the Lord and to watch and pray.  Prayer on its own is not enough.  Remember, prayer is only one part of our relationship with the Lord.

By reading His word, the Bible, and putting it into action we establish a ‘watch’ in our lives. In this way, we will discover that we can be overcomers and live our lives to God’s glory and find greater personal fulfillment in life.

Apart from brief notes, it is not intended to enter into full explanations regarding aspects of prayer.  There are many books that are available.

May God bless you richly and may you be a blessing not only to our Lord and Saviour but also to those around you as you ‘Watch and Pray’.
